A violin method for children age four and older by Egon Sassmannshaus. Elementary duets. Dances and other pieces in various keys.
English Edition with Spanish text supplements.
The Early Start on the Violin provides children with an age-appropriate
and basic introduction. Learning to play the violin with fun and
necessary endurance – this school provides the right framework. In the
design and illustration clearly rejuvenated and substantially unchanged,
this school is still the first recommendation for lasting enjoyment of
the violin.
The Saßmannshaus schools impress with the finely
tuned structure of the learning content and exercises. After the
entrance with open strings and simple note values follows the "third" as
a base interval. Within the first volume (914225) all the fingers are
used with children's songs in the musical values from the whole up to
eighth notes. Even simple exercises are lined with texts, so that the
vocal aspect can be highlighted and the melodies can be perceived as a
whole.
The second volume (914226) offers two-part classic pieces.
Dotted notes, sixteenth and first double stops and high and low finger
positions are introduced. This volume is pioneering in the introduction
of shifting in already learned pieces.
Focus of the third volume
(914227) is the duet play in different time signatures and keys. Known
grip patterns and bowings are practiced and developed.
The fourth
volume (914228) eventually expands the shifting, introduces new bowings
and exercises them in increasingly sophisticated classic duets. Since
time immemorial, these schools are a reliable guide for the teacher and
provide diverse material for the students.
The authorsEgon
Saßmannshaus has created the standard work for young strings with his
school work »Early Start« ... for Violin, Viola and Cello. His years of
experience as a violin teacher have been incorporated into the work.
Also his five children have chosen the music as a life's mission.
His
son Kurt Saßmannshaus has made a name as a violin teacher, chamber
musician and conductor after studying in Cologne, in the US and in
China. At the new edition of Saßmannshaus schools he was involved
significantly with his siblings. He is with his father author of the
English edition.
