Plain gut string for bass viol (HU gut type)
The use of unsplit
sheep gut is not only closer to the historical reality of string makers
of the past, but has resulted in strings with unexpectedly superior
acoustic and mechanical properties compared to those made with gut
strips. The HU type strings have a surface that has only been flattened
enough so that the string is not wrong; Then the string is lightly
oiled.
Polished Strings (Type HU)The AQUILA gut
strings are largely similar to the historical hand-polished strings in
that they only have a fraction of the fibers ground through compared to
the grinding methods that are otherwise common today.
- Gut string for treble viol
- For stringing after about 1690, calculated for a pitch of 415 Hz
- Vibrating string length: 38 cm
- Total length of the gut string: 120 cm
Due
to the special manufacturing method of polished strings, the diameters
represent mean values ??(e.g. a string with a diameter of 76 can be in a
range of 75 - 77.
